Community consultation with local residents in the summer of 2006 and close working with JAG (the local residents’ group), means that the local community are aware of the project and the response has been very positive

The physical works to create the wetland scrapes took place in autumn 2006. This involved path improvements, ditch work and an improved barrier. By January 2007 two open water areas had been created and paths had been improved.

J.A.G., the local Residents Group, held a successful clean up on 24th March 2007 as part of Wildabout Manchester and the 100 days Campaign. As well as rubbish clearance the wetland edges were planted up with appropriate species.

In April 2007 funding was secured through Greening Greater Manchester to install a dipping platform at the wetland

The wetland dried up somewhat over summer 2007 because the drains, blocked when the project was undertaken, cleared due to the weight of the water from higher up. The drains will now be capped; this will ensure that the water is retained in the wetland
